Selling your home? Render it first

If you are planning to sell your home you will need it too look its best if you want to get the best possible selling price. There are a number of ways to up the asking price for your home and one of those ways is rendering.

Increase the value of your home

The outside of your home is the first thing that people (or prospective buyers) see. Your home may be a flawless vision on the interior but a run down or aged looking interior can be a major turn off, so much so that they may decide to not look any further than your less than appealing exterior.

Rendering can dramatically improve the curbside appeal of your home, which in turn will increase your home’s value. Even the mention of recently rendered exterior will draw attention to your home’s listing, which will increase requests for viewings. The more on site views you have, the more potential buyers you will have.

If the interior walls of your home are severely cracked or chipped then rendering your interior can also be a smart and viable solution.

Choose the render that will best suit your home

There are many varieties of render available; the 3 main types being solid plastering, acrylic and cement.

Plaster

Solid plaster has a smooth and attractive finish; however the solid plaster is very soft and is normally only used as finishing product.

Cement

Cement renders are a great for adding a unique decorative touch to your home as far as texturing and colour (cement can be dyed virtually any colour).

Acrylic

Acrylic rendering is one of the more popular of renders because of how versatile and quick drying it is (acrylic render dries within a couple days after it is applied)

The rendering that you should choose depends on a number of factors such as; type of property, extent of wall damage and of course how much money you are willing and/or able to spend. If you aren’t sure what type of rendering you need you can always consult with a professional.

Benefits of rendering

There are number of ways that rendering can improve the look of your home. Something as simple as applying a coat of coloured render to the external walls can give your home a great facelift. Rendering can make a chipped, cracked or generally unattractive exterior look brand new.

Rendering is also a great way to weatherproof your home and add to its durability. Houses that have been properly rendered also have substantially lower heating and cooling costs, as rendering will give your home added insulation. Rendering your exterior walls is also a great way to add extra soundproofing to your home.
